Wish happy birthdays to George Harrison, John Blessman, Yves Heroux, Kent Paynter, Jamie Carroll and Robert Polesello.

April 27 in Indianapolis hockey history
2009: Max Cook scores with 4:08 left in the third -- assisted by Mike Cichy and Torey Krug -- to break a 2-all tie and give the Ice a 4-2 victory over Green Bay in Game 3 of their semifinal series. The win gives the Ice a 2-1 sries lead. Zach Golombiewski scores two first-period goals -- the second shorthanded -- but Green Bay answers each to tie the game. Brent Gwidt adds an empty-netter to seal it.
2000: The Ice open the CHL Miron Cup Final with a 2-1 win in Columbus. Ken Boone scores the game-winner and Jamie Morris continues his hot play in net.
1999: Marc Lamothe continues an amazing run of perfection, and the Ice play the second-longest game in their history. Craig Mills scores 3:57 into the second overtime to give the Ice a 1-0 win in the opening game of their best-of-5 second-round series against the Detroit Vipers. Lamothe hasn't allowed a goal in three postseason games. It would be the final win for the IHL Ice, as Detroit would roar back to win the next three games.
1984: The final game in the 21-year history of the original Central Hockey League is played at Carmel Ice Skadium, as the barnstorming Oilers -- formerly of Tulsa -- beat the Checkers 3-2 to sweep the Adams Cup Final in four games. Grant Ledyard scores the series-winning goal unassisted at 6:09 of the third period. Red Laurence scores the final goal in CHL history, assisted by Garth MacGuigan, with 15 seconds left in the game. Rob Holland stops 26 shots in a losing effort. The game is played in Carmel due to the lack of available ice at the Coliseum.
1976: The Racers stay alive in their playoff series with New England, scoring four second-period goals to beat the Whalers 5-3 in Hartford and even the series at 3-3. Nick Harbaruk scores twice. Darryl Maggs, Rene LeClerc and Dave Keon also score for the Racers, and Ken Block assists on three goals. Keon tallies a goal and an assist. Jim Park stops 34 shots in net.
