1978: Wayne Gretzky scores his third professional goal on a wrist shot from the slot in the third period. He also assists on Peter Driscoll’s goal in the first, but the Racers fall to New England 7-4 in Hartford. 

Birthday
Terry Kleisinger: Goaltender who played four games for the Checkers in 1986-87, the second of his two professional seasons. Kleisinger had been a goaltender for the University of Wisconsin, and split that year between the Checkers, AHL New Haven and IHL Flint. A native of Regina, Sask., he is 51.
