NCAA hockey

Indiana's representative fell in the NCAA Frozen Four on Thursday, as Notre Dame was defeated by Minnesota-Duluth 4-3 in the opening semifinal today. North Dakota -- coached by former Indianapolis Ice player Dave Hakstol and a team that includes ex Indiana Icemen Ben Blood and Mike Cichy -- dropped a 2-0 decision to Michigan in the other semifinal, meaning UMD meets Michigan for the national championship Saturday night.

Congrats to former Cedar Rapids Roughrider and Chicago Steel player Andy Miele, who was named the Hobey Baker Award winner. Miele played at Miami (Ohio) and is now with the Phoenix Coyotes.
